Rookery Hall offers a wonderful, relaxed experience because you can completely settle in without worrying about travel logistics. The estate provides lots of wonderful, light-filled rooms and suites dedicated to preparations, allowing for a calm atmosphere while I float between parties to document the anticipation of the day.

Depending on where you and your wedding party choose to stay on the estate, you can expect gorgeous period features, plenty of space, and lovely natural light.

Suites & Rooms: The hotel rooms and bridal suites feature elegant, historic character combined with modern comforts. With large windows letting in gorgeous natural light, these spaces are ideal for capturing those final touches—from stepping into your dress to last-minute buttonholes and nervous excitement.

The Groom & Groomsmen Setup: With plenty of comfortable rooms available on-site, the other half of the wedding party can easily get ready elsewhere on the grounds. This makes it effortless to capture candid, relaxed moments of the groomsmen getting suited up without any rush.

Expert Tips for Your Prep:

Keep the space tidy: Some of the rooms at Rookery are on the bijou side, so if you can have your accessories ready for me to capture (shoes, flowers, jewellery, perfume etc.), with tags removed, that will be really helpful. Any clothes bags and clutter should also be stored away.

Both Party Preparation: I’m more than happy to pop between each wedding party, but please have a timeline in mind, and stick to it, so I can capture both sides without wasting time in the endless corridors!

Once the congratulations settle and your guests mingle over drinks, we will take a brief stroll for your couple’s portraits. Because Rookery Hall is set within such expansive grounds, we can easily find gorgeous, private spots without dragging you away from your own wedding reception for too long.

Inside the historic house, the striking indoor staircase offers a dramatic, elegant backdrop—perfect for timeless portraits with classic architectural character, regardless of the weather outside. Outside, the property opens up to the classic symmetry of the formal gardens, quiet tree-lined pathways, and the impressive facade of the 19th-century building. Depending on the time of year, we can capture anything from soft window light indoors to golden hour sunshine spilling across the lawns.

As the afternoon settles into the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. My focus then shifts to capturing the heart of your party. Whether you choose to hold your speeches right before the meal to let the speakers relax or traditionally keep them for afterward, this part of the day is absolute gold for candid photography. When the wedding breakfast is finished, we can have another short wander around the grounds or head to the incredible staircase to capture a few more couple’s shots, only if you want to of course. The hotel and its grounds provide a fantastic setting for the rest of the evening, blending indoor charm with a warm, lively atmosphere as your evening guests arrive.
